This study aims to explore the role of physical activity and exercise interventions in managing mood disorders and psychiatric comorbidities among individuals with refractory epilepsy. For this purpose, the behavioral outcomes of the epileptic patients were compared with those of healthy individuals. A sample of 30 epileptic patients was selected for this study, and they were provided with self-rating questionnaires, including the “State-Trait Anxiety Inventory and the ” Beck Depression Inventory.” The results obtained have shown that the epileptic patients were more impaired than the control subjects. They had higher levels of anxiety (19%) and depression (36%). However, the level of physical activity was not different between these groups. In conclusion, low physical activity levels can act as a risk factor for developing anxiety and depression, emphasizing the integration of physical exercise to overcome such issues.
